“Our highest endeavour must be to develop free human beings who are able, of themselves, to impart purpose and direction to their lives.” - Rudolf Steiner* The approach of the da Vinci school is inspired by Waldorf education. As we are a public school we also follow the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum. Our teachers are not Waldorf trained, but we endeavour to follow the teachings of Rudolf Steiner.

Another important event is the review of the possible condo. development on Spadina. Here is a message from our Parent Council Chair: Da Vinci Families, As the joint efforts of Da Vinci and Lord Lansdowne Parent Councils prepare for the upcoming OMB hearing regarding the development at 484 Spadina we are hoping to present something from a distinctly Da Vinci perspective. This may be in the form of us presenting it or having Amy Furness (parent from Lord Lansdowne representing both parent councils) read something we have submitted. We have a unique perspective when considering this school yard and our students. In putting this together I would love to have input from any and all interested as far as your thoughts and feelings on what this 22 storey development right beside the playground, plunging it into shade, will do to our school yard and how it will affect our students. Many of you are so much more eloquent than I am so I would love it if you could share with me your ideas and I can piece them together in a nice cohesive manner. I would love to have your thoughts and feelings by Wed Nov 19th. Alternatively, if someone is eager to put together a submission statement they would be interested in having read I would be thrilled to entertain that also.

Picnic is tomorrow! Sat May 31st 11am-2pm School grounds Potluck lunch Provide your own plates, cutlery, water bottles etc. Entertainment by Ryan and Blair We will have some painting activities for the kids and plans to make school shirts. To make a school shirt, please bring a shirt that your child can re-create. This doesn't need to be a new shirt. An old one is fine, short-sleeve or long-sleeve. It would be better if it is plain and white or light-coloured. If it is new, wash first so the paint will set better. The school council will supply the paints. You are welcome to bring some activities such as balls, frisbees, hula hoops, skipping ropes, etc.
