"Is New York math the same as Texas math?" #fieldtrips #questionsfromschoolchildren This question was asked of our History Host Lindsay. She explained to the student that math is usually standard and universal so math here is similar to math somewhere else. However the questions in math have changed over time. Back then most math and arithmetic lessons centered around things the children would need to know when working on the farm.

One of the truly special things about the Gano House is that descendents of Col. Richard Gano were critical in moving and restoring the house. Here are a few more photos of the house on its original site, featuring Gene Rain, who did much of the research and fundraising for the house. #TBT #DHV50

"Are you 150 years old too?" #fieldtrips #questionsfromschoolchildren This question was asked of our History Host, Kay. Kay's usual orientation from school groups explains that our buildings are all 150 years old and still here. This prompted a precocious student to ask if she was that old as well. While our buildings are old, none of our staff lived during that time period.
