A Little Bit About Me: I first discovered a love for music at a very young age. Both my Grandmother and my Mother learned to play the piano, and because of this, since I can remember, I have been fortunate to have had access to a Piano in the family home. At the age of three, I would create musical effect on the piano to depict objects, the weather or a basic mood such as happiness or sadness. Supported by encouraging parents, and teachers alike, I began to learn how to play the piano, read music and understand musical theory. As I grew, my passion for music grew with me, and through continual integration with others in the musical community, I was able to discover new ways of expressing music, and found that singing and using the voice as an instrument was another aspect which appealed to me. Through my teenage years, I continued to develop both my Piano and Vocal work. Studying 'A' Level Music and Performing Arts at Gorseinon College, along with achieving Grade 8 ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) in both Piano and Vocal studies. I completed my studies at the "Guildhall School of Music and Drama" - London, taking a principal study in Singing / Voice. I continued to work professionally through various genres of the musical industry, alongside many wonderfully enthusiastic individuals before evolving and discovering my passion for teaching. * * * What to expect: All lessons are specifically tailored to the individual:- I believe that learning should be a journey of discovery and excitement. If you enjoy what you’re doing, then you are more likely to continue to pursue perfection in that particular activity. Before we can enjoy the fun side of playing any instrument there will always an element of work involved. Theory of Music:- This is an essential tool for learning to develop your musical skills. Within this topic you will learn how to understand and read musical notation, and how to integrate this into your practical work (playing/singing). (ABRSM Graded Studies are available on request). Piano:- Piano lessons include elements of discipline such as learning scales and other technical exercises designed to develop finger and hand dexterity as well as musical understanding. The pieces selected for study will be made up from music which appeals to your tastes along with a variety of music spanning various musical categories, from Classical genres to music from Stage and Screen, Jazz, Pop and Rock, Modern Classical and World Music. This exploration and journey through musical history and genre is designed to introduce new, exciting and challenging music for all students. (ABRSM Graded Studies are available on request). Voice:- Singing and Vocal lessons require several areas of discipline designed to develop dexterity, versatility and strength in your instrument, (your body and your voice). Within these lessons you will learn techniques on breath control, muscle support and posture alignment, vowel shaping and vocal projection, musical interpretation and expression. The pieces selected for study will be made up from music which appeals to your tastes along with a variety of music spanning various musical categories, from Opera, Classical genres, including; Italian, French, German and English Song; songs from Stage and Screen, Jazz, Pop and Rock, Modern Classical and World Music. This exploration through musical history and genre is designed to introduce new, exciting and challenging music for all students. (ABRSM Graded Studies are available on request). * * *
