The special character of Darling Downs Christian School reflects the Christian beliefs, values and lifestyle of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Over 100 years ago the Adventist Church developed a ‘blueprint’ for holistic education. This plan acknowledged the importance of not only the intellectual but also the spiritual, physical, social and emotional dimensions of education. Darling Downs Christian School echoes this ‘blueprint’ by maintaining a balance between all these different dimensions. We acknowledge that every child learns differently and aim to cater for each individual’s needs. Darling Downs Christian School is a co-educational Kindy to Year 12 school located in the Toowoomba suburb of Glenvale. We are a Seventh-Day Adventist school that is open to enrolments from all Christian denominations. For the past 70 years, our focus has been on nurturing and developing the whole child - intellectually, emotionally and spiritually. We offer a sound academic program that is founded on a strong Christian ethos within a safe learning environment, giving each child the opportunity to develop and grow in every area of life. We are located on a peaceful semi-rural campus just minutes from Toowoomba's CBD. We have small class sizes and have recently introduced a number of new innovations including: • The introduction of Digital classrooms and an individual laptop program • A new and expanded Learning Resource Centre • Implementation of the social-emotional learning program ‘You Can Do It’ • The introduction of a Kitchen-Garden Program for Prep to 7 for 2012 • Implementation of The Challenge Program for Gifted Students • The HOPE (Health, Outdoor and Physical Education) program for Years 9 and 10.
