The Darwin Camera Club meets at the Winnellie Art Space, 7:00pm the first Wednesday of every month. Membership is $50 - Single / $80 - family. Several in-house competitions are held through out the year with entry open to all financial members. Several excursions are organised each year for those enthusiastic members who like to get out and about and participate in interactive photoshoots. The Darwin Camera Club also gives members the opportunity to get involved in photoshoots for local community events, and sporting organisations. If you are interested in building a great network with fellow photographers, whether you are looking to learn something new or impart information to those who seek it, come along to one of our meetings, bring a friend, spread the word - come and see what we are all about.

I hope you are all refreshed after our break and been shooting heaps of photos. Wednesday is our first meeting for 2015, at the club rooms 96A Winnellie Rd at 7.30 pm Your committee has been hard at work with planning a calendar for 2015, comp themes for the year and a revamp of the comp rules. The digital section now has a monochrome class (both theme and open) and we have moved the experimental class from print to digital. The digital entries will still be accepted on usb sticks for Feb comp, we would like you to be at least 15 min early if you are entering the comp so we can get the uploading done and photos hung. Membership fees for 2015 are now due and just a reminder if you are entering the comp you have to be financial The theme is Raindrops. Hope to see you all Wednesday night
Our first meeting for the year will be on Wednesday 4th February. The competition theme is RAINDROPS so I’m sure you won’t be short of something to shoot in this weather! Please remember that all digital and print entries are required 15 minutes prior to the start of the meeting so that we can get started on time. There has been some changes to the categories so please have a look in the comments on this post for details. I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone's shots from over the break!
Wow, what a great turnout tonight at the wharf. It's a good thing we could add extra tables and then even more tables! We didn't get the lightning we'd hoped for but still a great club catch up nonetheless. Thanks to everyone that came along.

The lighting of the Christmas tree in Smith St mall is on Friday night. The club has been asked to shoot some photos and run a photo booth for the celebrations. We will also set up a backdrop and light and shoot family portraits for the public. It will be from 5 till 9pm so if you can give a hand let us know or just drop in. Also just a reminder that our end of year dinner is on Sunday night at the trailer boat club at 6pm. Please RSVP if you haven't already.

Thank you to everyone who came along to sort out the show photo entries today, it went very quickly! We will be meeting at 9am at the photo hut at the show ground next Sunday to get the hut ready and to hang the photos for the judge to make his decision about the winning entries. Please come along if you have a few hours to spare
Don't forget we will be sorting photos today at our club room from 3pm until about 6pm - we will order pizza afterwards or go somewhere locally for dinner as well

Our meeting this month is taking place this Wednesday (08 July 2015). During the meeting this month we will be having some RAW photo editing training from Matt. If you have a laptop with photo editing software installed you may want to bring it along as we are planning on sharing a photo for everyone to use to put into practice Matt's advice during the meeting. There is no internet available but we will provide a USB stick with the RAW photo on it for you to download to your laptop. Also don't forget that this Sunday (12th) we will be sorting photos for the Darwin Show from 3pm at our meeting room before heading somewhere local for dinner and the following Sunday (19th) we will be putting photos up at the show ground and everyone is welcome to come along and help out on both days.
Remember there isn't a meeting tonight because of Territory Day so we will see you next Wednesday (08 July)

At our last meeting the possibility of a weekend away was discussed. Can we please get an indication of who would be interested? Simply like or comment here if you're keen. It would most likely be mid Sep and suggestions so far incl Corroboree Park and Mt Bundy but let us know if you have other suggestions!
De Silva Hebron Solicitors are having an anniversary party at the Gardens Golf Club (opposite the casino) tonight and are looking for a photographer who can take pictures of people arriving at their tables and during the evening. The party starts at 6pm and they are prepared to pay for the photographers time. Please contact us if you're interested.
A big thanks to our guest speaker Tim Terry who shared his photography journey with us tonight along with some great tips. It was also great to have the Nikon reps do a presentation and bring in some gear. Next months theme is "Experimental" so get creative!
Our August meeting will be this Wednesday at 7.30 in the club rooms. Tim Terry the judge for the show will be coming as a guest speaker.

Hi All - we have had a query from one our members, John who would like to know the following - if you have any thoughts please let us know and we will pass it on to John for him: I am looking to getting a new camera and have come across the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000. I am aware that it is not a DSLR but a top end Compact Digital. Has anybody used/owned one, or have an opinion on it - good or bad?
