The UCCB benefit is increasing by $60 a month per child, children under 6 will go from $100 to $160 and children over 6 will go from $0 to $60. The change is effective Jan 2015, however the government isn't paying out the first payment until July. The July payment will consist of your regular payment plus 6 months back pay of $60/month per child) UCCB is the same for all families regardless of income. They are however removing effective next tax year the "amount for child tax credit" which is approx $300 in tax savings per child.
There have been a number of income tax changes this year: 1) Graduate Retention rebate has been removed by the Liberals in NS 2) Family Tax credit was added by PC, which will allow couples with children to shift income from one spouse to the other. 3) Child fitness credit increases to maximum of $1000 from $500 per child If you have questions on any of these and how they affect your tax situation feel free to send me a PM
