Our office will be closed tomorrow in observation of July 4th. We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!!
With the start of summer & kids being out of school, we are starting to see more injuries. We just wanted everyone to know that we DO treat injuries (cuts, sprains, burns, etc.) here at our office if these occur. This is a good time to remind everyone to make an appointment for their Well Checkups --- this may be needed for Camps, Colleges, School, or Sports. Your schedules (and ours) are more flexible now early in the summer before the rush as school restarts. Also, it is important to protect your skin from excessive sun exposure, so be sure to wear sunscreen daily if you are outside and reapply as needed. Take care of your health as you enjoy the time away from school.
The office will be closed tomorrow 04/18/14 in observation of Good Friday. We will resume regular office hours on Monday.
The office will be closing early this afternoon due to the weather and we will be opening at 10:00 am in the morning 03/04/13.
We will NOT be open at all on Thursday 2/13 due to the weather & road conditions. We are planning to be open on Friday 2/14 & will post our opening time as a decision is made. When we are closed, our phones are forwarded to PRN nursing triage, who are always able to reach our doctor on call to be responsive to our patients.
Flu Cases have begun ! We began to see our first cases of Influenza last week as have other areas in the state. We would like our patients & families to be sure that they have had a Flu vaccine for this season. While this provides a lot of advance coverage against influenza, you may still be able to contract Influenza. Whether you've had a vaccine or not, if you are experiencing Flu-like symptoms (fever, aches, cough, reddened eyes, decrease in appetite, fatigue) that become worse or progressive, it is important to be seen as early as possible in the process so that potentially helpful medications can be started.
Flu Vaccines are (finally) here! We just received our initial shipment of Influenza vaccines (Injections* and nasal spray**) and will be starting to offer these at Well Checkups and sick visits (if permitted). We are also now able to schedule patients appointments for "Flu Vaccine Only" appointments as well for established patients. These will be done on from 8:15-9:00a Tuesday through Friday mornings and 3:45-5:00p Tuesday through Thursday afternoons. Please call early to make an appointment or request a Flu Vaccine at your child's visit. * (for children aged 6 months and older) ** (for children 2 years of age or older if there are not medical reasons to defer this spray)

We anticipate closing EARLY today as well and probably closing early tomorrow as well due to the weather. We are committed to being responsive to our patients, so there is always one of our doctors available to the nurses who staff our Nurse Triage phones whenever we are closed. Please be safe during this weather.
We will be closing early this afternoon at 4:30pm and will be opening up at 9am on Thursday due to the roads freezing and being icy. Hope all the kids have enjoyed the snow today!!

SPRING is coming soon ! With Spring beginning tomorrow, we want to remind everyone that also signals the start of allergy season. The levels for tree and grass pollens have crept into the 'moderate range' within the past week. We are also seeing a big increase in the number of requests for Well Checkups and want to remind everyone to call early to schedule these visits - this will provide you with more options of dates and times that would best fit your schedule.
OFFICE HOURS for Wednesday FEB 18th: ------------------------------------------- We will be open from 10:00am until 4:00pm tomorrow, Wednesday FEB 18th, due to expected road conditions. Please call the office during those hours if you would like your child to be seen. Thank you
LATE OPENING: Tuesday, February 17th @ 9:30am ----------------------------------------------------------------------- In the interest of the safety of our employees and our patients, we will not be open until 9:30am tomorrow morning (TUE 2/17) due to the expected inclement weather. If you find the road conditions are still not safe for you at the time of your appointment, please call as early as possible so that we may re-schedule it for you. --- The physicians and staff of Davidson Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine.
We are beginning giving FLU VACCINES: We have received more of our supply of vaccines for this Influenza season and will begin to provide Flu Vaccines for all patients beginning TUE Oct 27th. These will be done at the start and end of our clinic days every day except Mondays, by appointment only. Starting Monday 10/26, you may call to schedule an appt for your child for a FLU vaccine. Please remember, your child must have a current Well Checkup at our office before receiving any vaccines.
FLU VACCINE update: We are getting a lot of phone calls and would like to update everyone on the status of our supplies. We have received only a very limited supply of vaccines to date and are therefore only able to provide Flu Vaccines when patients are at the office for their Well Checkup. We anticipate having more ample supplies very soon; at that time, we will begin scheduling appts solely for flu vaccines as well as providing them at 'sick' visits if appropriate (remember that your child's Well Checkup must be current within the past 12mo to receive here). It is advisable to have these done before the end of November to be effective. WE WILL POST a notice when our supplies have arrived and we have begun scheduling appts for Flu Vaccines. Thank you for your patience.
Staffing Updates: We are a little tardy in announcing some staffing changes, but are excited to make this update. Buffy Simerson, a front office staff member since our first day, finally completed her LPN degree (while working full-time !) this past summer and passed her Nursing Boards in August. To be an RN, she would need to accumulate enough clinical experience which our office would not qualify. She was excited to start work this Fall at Gastroenterology Associates of the Piedmont in Winston-Salem; our loss is their gain. Buffy was an important asset and help in starting our new practice is will be greatly missed. Knowing that Buffy would be leaving allowed us to search for another staff member. We were lucky to find and hire Dena Hall, a person who we have all worked with in the past & respected. Dena is a Certified Medical Assistant and works primarily in our front office; she is cross-trained and able to perform all back office clinical duties as well. Her flexibility allows us to put our personnel in places that can meet our patients' needs best. Happy Holidays in the coming weeks and Be Safe
