I'm not a dentist, I'm a professional photographer. A while back I was having dental work done and my doctor sent me to a lab for a shade matching appointment. It quickly became apparent that the technician was struggling with the digital SLR camera. I learned that consistently accurate exposure, color, focus and detail was at best a hit-or-miss proposition. Even finding images after they were taken was a challenge. Making dental images was a frustrating process for the employee and the patient. Unfortunately this seems to be the rule rather than the exception with labs and Practices around the globe. Now I teach intra-oral dental photography to dental labs and Practices across the country. My work-flow is simple, easy, and created for the non-photographer.
