The Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic surgery and Hand Surgery at the Evangelisches Hospital in Oldenburg is a highly efficient facility with a wide range of both ambulatory and inpatient surgical treatment possibilities. Reconstructive procedures after cancer, severe inflammation and problematic lesions, drastic weight loss or malformations such as tissue transplantation for defect filling and tendons, nerve or muscle transplantations for functional recovery are performed on a daily basis, in order to enhance our patient’s health-related quality of life. Furthermore, breast surgery with particular focus on reconstruction with autologous tissues (DIEP, TMG, SGAP) after breast amputation and surgery of the lymph drainage system for chronic lymph edema presents another focus of our department. Through our cooperation with multiple certified breast centers high quality therapy procedures based on up to date therapy guidelines are guaranteed. Concerning aesthetic surgery, our department provides lifting, tightening and forming procedures in face, breast, abdomen and in extremities as well as liposuction and breast augmentation. Additionally, we give council and illustrate reasonable amendment possibilities to patients with complications after procedures are performed in external clinics. The Hand Surgery Facility, which has a 24 hours replantation service, presents a major pillar of our department. Hand injury surgery including tendon, nerve, vessel injuries are performed in a timely manner. Moreover, joint wear, Nerve Compression Syndrome and movement disorders receive appropriate therapy and in indicated cases joint questions of wound healing, tissue transplantation and cancer biology are processed scientifically. Our national and international cooperations (e.g. Harvard medical school, MD Anderson Cancer Center, University of Michigan) allows for a scientific exchange and constant improvement of therapeutic standards adapted to the individual needs of our patients.
