Welcome to Derbyshire Dog Rehoming. We take in stray dogs on behalf of Chesterfield Borough Council and always looking for good homes for the dogs that are not claimed. We have been taking in stray dogs for many years yet there seems to be an increasing number of dogs that come into our care. This doesn't mean that the dogs are troublesome or difficult, more often that they are just the result of a change in circumstances. Through no fault of their own they are homeless and need our help! We never know what sort of dog will arrive - from super cute puppies of all breeds to stunning pedigrees and quite often, very loving and sedate golden oldies! We assess each dog's nature whilst it is in our care so we have a good idea of the sort of home it would be best suited to. We like to ask potential new owners many questions so we can find their perfect canine match! If you could offer one of our dogs a new home please get in touch so we can give them a second chance of happiness as soon as possible! Would you know what to do if your dog went missing? The number of Stray dogs found in Chesterfield Borough is on the rise, and so is the number of dogs that don't get claimed back by their owners. Lost Dogs If you lose your dog in the Borough, contact Chesterfield Borough Council on 01246 345734 as they may know your dog's whereabouts and will keep an eye out for him. As dogs can walk some distance you may also need to contact neighbouring councils in case it is found in their area. All stray dogs found in the Chesterfield Borough Council area are brought to us. If you need to report a stray dog or need any advice on this subject please telephone 01246 345734 when the office is open ( 8.30am to 5pm). At all other times please call 01246 471574. The Council provides a reception point for dogs found out of hours and you must take it to the approved kennels at such times. You must phone first and this service is only for dogs found in the Chesterfield Borough area. This service operates 24 hours a day.
