If you pay tax on your PAYE (Pay As You Earn) income, you could be entitled to a refund of up to £500 for each year claimed. You can claim back up to 4 years. If you are on the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) you could be entitled to all of your tax back, depending on income and expenses. For 2014 - 2015 you are allowed to earn up to £10,000 before you are liable to pay any tax. There are so many different groups of people who could be entitled to a tax refund: CIS, Sole Trader / Partnerships, Limited Companies, Small / Large businesses, Nurses, Community Carers, Mechanics, Police, Prison Officers, Seamen, Printers... The list goes on. There are some companies that quote they can get you a minimum of £2,500 rebate in 48 hours. This is impossible, unless they pay you out of their own pocket. Your unique tax refund amount depends on your income and expenses, so no one can tell you how much you WILL get before they look at this information. The time it takes to correctly complete a tax return is dependant on many things. Have we received ALL evidence of income, Have we received ALL evidence of expenses, Have we received your correct national insurance number / UTR, Does HMRC agree with amount of tax paid (if CIS), AND the longest wait is HMRC to process the tax return and issue a refund, if due. HMRC can take 4 - 6 weeks if all goes through without any problems. We will ensure your tax returns are submitted correctly and as quick as humanly possible. Once it has been submitted we will let you know when your refund has been released by HMRC. We are a national accountancy practice and so don't physically need to see our clients. In todays world we are all so busy and wouldn't have time to keep popping in to your accountancy practice to sort out your returns. We do most of our work via email and over the phone. Any documents or evidence we need can be scanned & emailed over to us. So nothing gets 'lost in the post', and is a lot quicker.
