Description
We do not believe in the artificial learning experience. Short-term fads are not our thing. We believe by teaching children practical skills and encouraging them to submit to their sense of responsibility, children become more self-assured, skilled, and self-sufficient. We value preserving our planet and thus, our future by instilling values of Do-It-Yourself and environmental sustainability. The aim is to complement Ontario’s existing elementary green initiatives through building and nurturing: urban agriculture methods, the [oft missing] vital DIY mentality in children, regardless of socio-economic factors, gender, creed, and abilities, and activities that promote independence in a child’s abilities to impact their surrounding. D.I.Y.kids ™ programs strive to provide children a practical platform to learn how to they can each produce a positive environmental impact. We aspire to de-bunk the supposed correlation between affluence and green abilities. It is our belief where we live, shop, & eat has little bearing on our ability to adopt a self-sustainable lifestyle. Students will discover this perspective over the course of our series of Do-It-Yourself school programs and personal workshops. The end result being that children of all ages are taught basic self-sustainability concepts, given a space to test and eventually put learnt DIY skills to practical, everyday use.
