Description
The continued vision for the program, Doctors in Science (DiS), is to expose students (starting in the 6th grade) to various aspects of medicine and dentistry and to help them develop constructive habits to facilitate their academic success and growth. The mission statement for DiS is “to promote a culture of scientific creativity, collaboration, and excellence for students interested in medicine and dentistry.” Through longitudinal mentorship, DiS is of great service to the youth involved in the program. Furthermore, with regards to the greater medical community, DiS accomplishes a unique purpose in helping to guide and expose interested underrepresented students to careers in medicine. In this, the students can themselves continue to work to provide medical care to underserved communities and to help mentor others following in their footsteps.

Faith Mission, a part of the LSS Network of Hope, exists to provide support to homeless men & women as they transition to independent living and also provide meals to anyone who is hungry. Since 1966, Faith Mission has served the homeless community by offering a secure environment for homeless men and women on an emergency walk-in basis. Faith Mission is known by many as not only a place for a hot meal and a warm bed, but a haven of hope as well. The agency provides shelter, food and clothing, while helping individuals with access to longer term solutions such as housing, employment assistance, medical, dental and vision care, counseling and support groups. Faith Mission is member of the Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio family.
