General Info

Doors Open Saskatoon is part of an international tradition that began in Glasgow, Scotland in 1990. Buildings of architectural and historical significance, which are not normally open to the public, open their doors to visitors for an afternoon. Admission is free of charge with a self-guided in some cases and a tour in other cases. The aim of Doors Open Saskatoon is to facilitate people’s understanding and enjoyment of their local architectural environment while encouraging awareness of their built heritage. The event was founded in 2005. Doors Open is a partnership between the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee and the Saskatoon Heritage Society, and is presented biennially (alternately with the Municipal Heritage Awards). The event has become memorable not only for participants but for volunteers as well.
