A unique new take on tradition, DOZEN RYOKAN & CAFÉ offers guests an unforgettable experience.
DOZEN RYOKAN is a 100-year-old traditional Japanese Inn that has been renovated and reimagined as a conceptual ryokan, based on Kyoto’s HANAMACHI. Hanamachi (花街) refers to Japan’s Geiko/Maiko Districts, with Kyoto’s most famous hanamachi being Gion. This ryokan consists of 11 private rooms and 1 cafe, together making up a “dozen,” to offer you a unique new way to enjoy the traditionally and historically rich city of Kyoto. Each room at this ryokan has been named after one of the many recognizable symbols of Japan, such as the sumo, samurai, ninja, etc. This newly updated ryokan provides you with modern conveniences while maintaining the traditional touches that make up a Japanese ryokan special. Located on the first floor is a café. Vibrant red lanterns, a large mural depicting a historical scene, and tranquility offered by the garden are all elements that will welcome you into the cafe. Guests of the ryokan will be offered a complimentary continental breakfast. In the afternoon, the café will serve coffee, tea, and light meals (sandwiches, breads, desserts) to customers who stop by. In addition, our café space will periodically be transformed into a space for light entertainment, and demonstrations of various cultural activities that reflect Japan’s long kept traditions. DOZEN RYOKAN is located a short walk away from the JR Kyoto Station. Popular tourist destinations are only a short bus ride away, where Kyoto’s abundant attractions and treasures will be at your fingertips.
