There may be a number of reasons as to why this occurs, my passion is find these reasons, act upon them, and bring the body back into balance. The Chinese have a saying – where there is pain there is no free flow, and where there is free flow there is no pain. There are a number of modalities I use to accomplish this, these are, Acupuncture, Esoteric Acupuncture, Massage, and Reiki. Acupuncture Chinese Medicine states that the body is surrounded by energy channels called meridians, these energy channels combine and link to form a flow of energy called Qi (chi) throughout the entire body. When a blockage occurs in one or more of these channels, illness, pain, or disease results. Once a diagnosis has been found, needles are placed along the channels in certain points, this moves the blockage and so restoring health. Acupuncture is especially good at treating illness and disease such as back neck and shoulder pain, headaches and migraines, menstrual disorders such as PMT and period pain, mood swing, anxiety and depression, digestive disorders, fatigue, menopause, acupuncture can also help with the side effects associated with cancer and its treatment. One question that people often ask is “Does it hurt?” The answer to this is yes and no – most people report that their treatments are often painless and very relaxing, some of the points that are needled can be tender and the patient will feel some pain, the pain normally settles soon after. Needles are left in situ for approximately 30min before removal. Massage Massage has the effect of extreme relaxation. When we are stressed the body is held in a ridged position and the muscles become stiff and tight, people who sit and drive a computer tend to tense the body around the neck shoulders and lower back, this can cause lower back pain, headaches, and fatigue. People who exercise also become ridged as the muscles are often overworked, without massage, injury can result, resulting in many months away from the gym and in some cases work. Chinese Remedial Massage while using the hands can also employ the use of cups, cupping is a good way of removing waste products from the muscles that cause muscle tension and fatigue. The cups are placed on the body using a flame which causes a vacuum within the cup allowing it to adhere to the skin. After cupping a bruise like circle is left on the skin but this mark is generally the result of toxins being removed, this is excellent in the treatment of colds and flu. Massage Relaxation Therapeutic Deep Tissue Chinese Remedial Treatment Times – 30min 45min 60min 90min Esoteric Acupuncture Esoteric Acupuncture is a treatment based on spiritual models and chakra systems. This system works through the etheric body and the chakra system to bring the body back into balance and keep it there. When the body is out of balance disease and illness can result, esoteric acupuncture gently brings the body back into balance. This system will maintain the body in balance keeping it from disease. Early China the doctors where paid when the client was and kept in wellness, but if there patient was sick it was considered that the doctor wasn’t doing his job properly and wasn’t paid until the patient was back into balance. This form of acupuncture is very new and quickly gaining popularity amongst acupuncturists and other healers. This treatment is between one and two hours balancing both the front and back of the body. REIKI Reiki is the Usui form of healing using the universal energies to bring about healing. It is a powerful form of healing working especially on the spiritual, emotional, and physical bodies. The Chinese believe that most disease is caused through the emotions and Reiki has a powerful affect on them. It is especially relaxing with the client often sleeping through the treatment. This form of treatment is with hands laid on the body so the client can be dressed throughout. The next 15 years I worked in the community mainly in aged care. It was at this time I completed my certificate in massage. After nursing I worked at the Hepburn Bath House and Spa. This gave me valuable experience with approximately 20,000 massages. Here I worked part time while completing my Degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine completing this course in China 2008.
