Oil & Gas Management postgraduate degree, as well as numerous other courses being offered by Abertay University.

Thursday 10 April, 6–8pm Events areas, behind Kydd Building reception Mid Scotland CIPD Branch is pleased to announce an extra event. This exciting event will enable attendees to hear from two experts on leadership and leadership development. Jane Harte and Brian Howieson have worked extensively together and will share with us their latest research and writing about 'Leadership for the Public Good' and its implications for the study and practice of leadership and leadership development across both public and private sector organisations. Join us for what will be a valuable opportunity to learn more about contemporary developments in this key area of human resource management. All staff and students are welcome. There will be a buffet at 6pm.

Our next CIPD Skills Workshop is being delivered by Audrey Wood, a Regional Employment Consultant for the Croner Group Limited, on Tuesday 25 March from 2.00pm – 4.00pm in Room 1004. See below for further information. CIPD Skills Workshop - Supporting Performance Aim: • To provide on overview of a Supporting Performance System (Appraisal) Objectives: • To explain and discuss the S.P. process and it’s use as a Management Tool as a means to support and improve employee’s performance • Explain the Competency Framework • Explain how to conduct an effective annual review meeting • Explain what S.P. forms should be used • Explain how to develop a training plan which will support employee performance Audrey Wood Audrey studied a BA in Law at Abertay University in Dundee and her passion lay with Employment Law and the Law relating to Employment Tribunals. Audrey went on to study a Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and this led her to a career in Human Resource Management, which has spanned across 16 years. Audrey has worked in Local Authority; Dundee City Council and Angus Council which was very Employee Relations focused and also other sectors such as Manufacturing, Retail and the Voluntary sector. Audrey now works for the National Company; Croner Group Ltd as a Regional Employment Consultant. Covering the East of Scotland she advises small to medium size businesses on everyday employment problems; writes and prepares contractual information and company handbooks; attends employee relations meetings and delivers training for clients when required. Within Audrey’s career she has been involved with a diverse range of HR related work and has advised managers on day to day issues and large scale project work, including redundancies and TUPE transfers. She has also trained managers on Attendance Management, how to conduct Disciplinary Hearings & Grievances and Recruitment & Selection.

SPEED RECRUITMENT 26th April 2014 12:00 - 16:00 Hannah Maclure Center (Top Floor Abertay Union) A one stop shop for employment and recruitment. MICROSOFT, ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND, BT, CHARLIE MALONE, THE POLICE & DISCOVER OPPORTUNITIES An opportunity to speak with all of the above attendees around employment within businesses. They will be discussing what their businesses are, what the companies recruitment procedure is like and what they look for in the ideal candidate. Each of the above will be doing a presentation giving an insight into the world of work and while they aren't presenting will be available to answer any questions in which you may have! This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to go into any of these areas and also an amazing chance to have all of these people in the same room at the same time.
