The Durban Actors Studio will: * give adults the ability to develop and explore a career in the arts whilst still needing to hold down a full time job, * give adults a platform to find their voice, develop confidence to thrive in an ever changing world and, most importantly, escapism from the daily grind and fun. The goals of the Durban Actors Studio are to: * bring together like minded people who have a passion for performance, * establish a semi-professional theatre company in Durban, * be a creative melting pot for all genres of perfuming arts, * coach and assist people who have left school, either recently or a while ago, the ability to develop performance skills and rekindle a desire to perform. * establish an accredited training programme that will allow people access to quality arts training regardless of age or current career path. The Durban Actors Studio is open to anyone aged 18 plus with a passion for theatre and performance. We want our members to be a mix of people from different backgrounds. These include Actors and Directors who are either applying for, or have completed professional training. We are an outlet to those who have chosen a career outside of the arts but want to keep their creativity alive and for those who WANT a career in the arts but don’t know how or where to start.
