The winding up of the Eaglehawk Golf Club is almost complete, with the liquidators finalising details now. The majority of Eaglehawk Golf Club members have transferred across to the Bendigo Golf Club and have been enjoying the facilities at the Epsom site.
Eaglehawk Golf Club Members’ Meeting, March 27 On Thursday night, March 27 Eaglehawk Golf Club members attended a meeting with the liquidator to consider several resolutions. All resolutions were unanimously accepted, finally clearing the way for the move to Bendigo Golf Club to proceed. Any questions as the merger progresses should be directed to the Bendigo Golf Club. (5448 4206) Below is a quotation from the recent BGC newsletter showing the positive light in which the day to day blending of the two player groups is viewed. “Last night 27/03/2014 the Eaglehawk Golf Club met with the liquidator to finally decide their future and voted to fully support the move to Bendigo Golf Club. This final vote confirms the golfers have enjoyed playing at Epsom and being welcomed to their new club, so thank you to all current Bendigo Golfers who put out that welcome mat and to the Eaglehawk Golfers who accepted our invitation to try our club and our hospitality. The playing numbers are huge and the members of both clubs have adapted to the changes very well. This has been a long drawn out saga, with both sides pleading for a final outcome for the benefit of both clubs. After 3 months working with the liquidator, we now have one and we can get on with the business of improving one golf club for all players.”
ALL MEMBERS Our Farewell night will be held on Saturday November 16th at 7 pm at the Club House. A group photo will be taken in front of the 18th tee at 7.30, conditions allowing. We are looking for a photographer, so if you know someone who can help please see Wendy Sheldon, Neil Marshall, or Graham Elliott. All current members are invited, along with a list of past loyal people who have put in that extra effort, and have kept contact with the club. Of course, that includes partners of current members, if they were also once members. We are looking to have a casual, fun evening, a bit of music, no prolonged nostalgia or speeches, and a few surprises. There will be no charge. Finger food will be served throughout the night. A plate of finger food from current members please. IF YOU ARE ATTENDING, PLEASE PUT YOUR NAME ON THE LIST IN THE PRO SHOP OR RSVP TO JENNY BY NOVEMBER 9TH. LET’S MAKE OUR LAST HURRAH A NIGHT TO REMEMBER!
Merger Updates The proposed merger with Bendigo Golf Club is an exciting opportunity for Eaglehawk members to be associated with the next phase of golf in Bendigo. We will be members of a Club that will provide an environment and playing facilities that will ultimately make it a destination golf course that we can all share and be proud of. Regular merger updates will be posted on Face Book and the Club web site so Eaglehawk members can be fully informed. Hard copies of the updates will be available for members in the Eaglehawk club house. Members who have questions please contact Steve Driesen or Steven Oliver from Bendigo Golf Club. Bendigo & Eaglehawk GC Merger working Group Information Update, 20/09/13 The working group met last Friday to continue the process of merging the two Clubs together. Reports from each of the portfolios’ (Membership, History, Finance, Legal, Events, Communication & Asset management) regarding the areas that have been covered off as well as the next steps, were discussed. Briefly the main points covered were: 1. Communication and how this will get to members. 2. Piecing together the facts, as opposed to the many rumours, regarding possible ways & values of realising the asset base. 3. Detailing the of the current financial position of the EGC and starting to formulate projected budgets moving forward. 4. Possible dates for the transfer of members playing together at the Bendigo Golf Club As all members of both clubs are aware, the Bendigo Golf Club proposal which was voted on successfully by the Eaglehawk Golf Club members, forms the framework and structure to the merger process. The working group has been busy detailing the finer points in order that all the facts are uncovered and that both clubs will be able to go to a final vote to confirm the merger formalities. Additional to the fortnightly working group meetings, representatives of the Bendigo Golf Club again met with the current committee of the Eaglehawk Golf Club on Wednesday night. Both Clubs remain very positive in the pursuit of the merger on a number of fronts, the obvious solution to the existing Eaglehawk GC issues but also for the long term betterment of golf in the Bendigo region. There continues to be enthusiastic and positive discussions between members of both clubs, with many questions now centred around “when”. When will everyone be playing together, when will the merger be official, when do the combined events start, etc, etc. This is fantastic that everyone is keen, and the working group and the Board/committees of both clubs are getting through the many facets of “behind the scenes” work as quickly as possible. We are all committed to being transparent & open, so please, if there are any rumours circulating – good, bad or ugly, do not hesitate to contact me and I will endeavour to inform you of the correct information on behalf of the working group.
