A family emergency may arise for many reasons and under many different circumstances, such as the loss of a job, the onset of family illness, or the delay of federal or other assistance. The goal of EIS is to assure that the babies and young children of theses families do not endure hunger and human suffering during such difficult times.

General Info

The need for EIS has continued to grow since 1977 and today, EIS is providing emergency services for approximately 16,800+ babies and young children per year in two locations, 5 days a week. Each year Emergency Infant Services serves about 16,500 children in financial crisis, providing essential care items, such as 196,484 bottles of formula, 877,100 diapers and 333,654 pounds of food to children across northeastern Oklahoma, (primarily in the Tulsa Metropolitan Area). Unique in its mission, Emergency Infant Services cuts through the barriers of appointments, income qualification, and complex paperwork to provide immediate access to needy parents enduring any of the following financial setbacks: Unemployment or under-employment Illness or injury Spousal and/or child abandonment Home losses due to natural disasters such as tornadoes, floods or fires. Emergency Infant Services works to stabilize families in crisis through a series of four visits, within a calendar year. Even on their first visit, parents leave the agency, usually within an hour, with tangibles in hand.

We would like to thank everyone who came out and supported the diaper & coat drive at "Glow on the Green" at Guthrie Green this past Sunday as well as our #GivingTuesday goal. We appreciate you helping us do what we do!

This is one of the 16,876 reasons that we do what we do each day. Thank you!!! "Here's my Giving Tuesday story: Today I held a young woman as she cried hard, wracking sobs. She came to Emergency Infant Services for diapers and food for her toddler girl, but when asked by the interviewer how her newborn son was, she told us that he had died of SIDS. I am used to filling baskets with formula, donated coats, wipes, and other things poor families with young children need when I volunteer there on Tuesdays but thankfully we can also help direct people to counseling services that are free or on a sliding scale. So I am asking you today to give to a charity that helps the poor. You may even help keep the doors open to someone walking in after a horrible tragedy and no other place to turn."
