Since 1964, the English Language Institute (ELI) at the University of Pittsburgh has been teaching English as a second language (ESL) courses for international students who... - are planning to attend universities and colleges in North America - wish to improve their general ability in English - are already academically admitted to the University of Pittsburgh and need some additional development of their language skills The ELI has a variety of programs, including: - Intensive English Program (20 hours a week; part-time study available for anyone not on a student visa) - Multi-skill Evening Course (available for part-time students) - Short special classes: English Pronunciation for Clear Communication Mini-class Advanced Vocabulary and Discussion Mini-class TOEFL Preparation Class - Daytime course TOEFL Preparation Class - Evening course (satisfies Au Pair requirements) - Short summer programs: Professional and Academic English Program English as a Foreign Language Program for International Teachers Summer Language and Culture Program Our Facebook page is intended for sharing information about our program with current and prospective students.
