To be certain, I will travel as far south as Portsmouth, New Hampshire, as far north as Portland and as far west as Sanford. Background: I started college as an engineering major, spent some time in computer science and then discovered a love for teaching when I got involved with the Satori Summer Camp. My good friend Mike Cantlon, the founder and director of Satori, convinced me to change my major one last time and I graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1999, Cum Laude with a degree in Math Education and a minor in Philosophy. Because of my prior majors, I have a year each of calculus based physics and advanced general chemistry. Since receiving my degree, I have done graduate studies at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Upon graduating from EWU, I headed off to Alaska, where I taught for a year in Elim, a native village on the coast of the Seward Peninsula and Norton Sound. From there, I traveled back to the state where I grew up, New Mexico, and started teaching at Santa Fe Prep. I taught there until 2007 and at various times worked as the math department curriculum coordinator and department chair. In addition to my teaching duties at Prep, I obtained a school bus driver's license and drove on many school activity trips. Toward the end of my tenure at Prep, I felt the call to bring education back towards the more personal level of tutoring, something I'd done as far back as my first year of college. My good friend Laura McClure encouraged me to make the leap toward having my own business and mentored me in a close collaboration that lasted until I moved to Maine in 2010. In Maine, I taught at Southern Maine Community College during Fall Semester of 2010. It is my desire to start up my tutoring business once again as I enjoy the one-on-one learning environment. I possess a current Maine CHRC Fingerprint Certification, verified through the FBI for working with Maine students. I also possess a Maine school bus driver's license.
