A registered charity and non-maintained special residential school and college, providing education and care for deaf people aged 5–25, in British Sign Language (BSL) and English.
We have been providing education for deaf young people since 1826. We teach children from age 5 – 25 years, using a bilingual environment of British Sign Language (BSL) and English to provide specialist education and care tailored to individual needs. We inspire deaf children to believe in themselves as they journey towards independence and have a strong reputation for engaging students failed elsewhere in education. The Academy welcomes children from across the UK so the majority of our students use our residential care facilities. We work closely with parents and guardians and our children’s home is able to provide year round care for those that need it. As a non-maintained special school, our pupils are funded by their home local authority.
