Emma and Louise very taken with two pigmy goats: Sarah and spot who came to visit to day! X
Well done to all our Strathearn pony club clients who are having great fun at junior and senior camp this week. Our vet Camilla enjoyed putting the younger children's memory to the test today in the lunchtime quiz. Good luck to all the riders at the end of camp show! Mini camp for the really young riders is next week. Pony club is a brilliant way for children to make friends, learn about the responsibility of looking after a pony, have fun and get plenty of fresh air and exercise. You don't necessarily need to own your own pony to join in on the fun! Pony club centres offer the opportunity for children to ride and care for their ponies. Over spring 2016 we assisted with over 100 difficult deliveries and carried out over 30 Caesarean sections, often in the middle of the night. Thousands of lambs and calves were born easily. Perthshire farmers give their animals excellent welfare standards and work very hard night and day to produce high quality produce. We are very proud to continue to support local farmers after almost 100 years as a practice and encourage you to BUY LOCAL PRODUCE whenever you can.
We delivered this gorgeous bundle of little pups by Caesarean section one evening- it was all hands on deck- mum and babies have thrived and they came in for their first vaccinations this week.
Is the weather getting you down? Why not have a duvet day with friends!
Great to see so many Scottish trainers producing winners at Perth races this week. Perth Racecourse

We firmly believe in minimising stress in horses, they are often happier at home surrounded by their companions; also travel can be contra-indicated with lameness. This is why our experienced equine team (all horse lovers and riders themselves) come out to your horses home to perform procedures such as: DENTISTRY geldings, Endoscopy, Ultrasound scans, X-Ray's, vaccinations, Blood samples, lameness work-ups, vettings, stitch wounds, Sedation for clipping. We also give a quick turnaround and advice on faecal worm egg counts. Our digital portable X-Ray machine, state of the art endoscope and ultrasound scanner will give instant, high quality results to allow quick and efficient diagnosis and immediate appropriate treatment. We work closely with several equine referral centres and can e mail radiographs for quick second opinions if needed.
Looking forward to our puppy socialisation class tonight.

Here are some of the crystals which can form in cats' urine and eventually lead to bladder stones. It is quite a common problem called "urolithiasis". Bladder stones can cause a blockage and become life-threatening, especially in male cats and cause severe long term discomfort in female cats. If you see your cat showing any of these signs, please consult us as; although the cause can be multi-factorial, urolithiasis can be prevented and cured in most cases. Signs to look for in your cat: 😽Looking uncomfortable when they are passing urine 😼Urinating frequently 😿Returning to their litter tray frequently and not passing much urine 🙀Vocalising when passing urine 😾Their urine is strong-smelling We have clever ways of helping you collect a urine sample at home from your cat. If you cannot manage we are happy to collect a sample for you, if you bring your cat in to see us.
We love this photo! One of our clients sent it in- a litter of 7 week old Kelpie x Collies!
Puppies Archie, Fletcher and Amber had a lovely time meeting each other at our puppy class this week. We are delighted to say that the team at Perth Dog training has won a prestigious award from the Kennel Club. They won first place in the whole of the U.K.!! Perth Dog Training continue to support us in giving socialisation classes to puppies and we are seeing the benefits with very waggy-tailed behaviour in our patients a year after we started the classes. Puppies who have been to our classes bound into our surgery confidently and their owners report that they meet life's little challenges with equal enthusiasm. We started the classes to address and prevent common behavioural problems in dogs, which can very sadly lead to pets being euthanised in severe cases. The classes have also raised £100's for Canine Partners. Perth Dog Training The Kennel Club Canine Partners

The hot weather last week caused problems with ticks and fly strike. This little Highland lassie had a problem with flies laying eggs on her (fly strike) but is now out and about again after her treatment and enjoying the cooler weather. Ask us about flea and tick prevention in small animals and preventing fly strike in livestock and rabbits.
..... Bring back the sunshine please!
