Starting on August 22, Falcon District 49 will offer enrichment classes to homeschool students in grades 1 – 6. Classes will focus on hands-on, cooperative, group learning activities, where students will expand and extend their learning and form lasting friendships. The subject matter for these classes will include science, art, technology, composition and social studies topics. Along with enrichment classes, families enrolled in the program will benefit from a curriculum lending library, periodic networking events, field trips and an online social network for enrolled students and their families. This program will be a great benefit to home educators and homeschooled students in the Falcon 49 School District community and throughout the wider Colorado Springs area. The Falcon Homeschool Enrichment Program managers, Melyssa Dominguez and Jessica McAllister, are both Colorado licensed educators who have extensive experience working with home-based students. Melyssa homeschooled her own children for twelve years, and both Melyssa and Jess worked for many years in an online school environment, supporting home based educators and their students. We hope to harness this experience to the benefit of homeschoolers enrolled in the program. Information about the Falcon Homeschool Enrichment Program and classes will be shared at the following informational meetings to be held at the Falcon District 49 Student Services Center, located at 7545 Mohawk Road in Falcon: • Monday, July 25 at 7:00 PM • Friday, July 29 at 10:00 AM • Tuesday, August 2 at 3:30 PM • Monday, August 15 at 7:00 PM Please plan to attend if you are interested in hearing more!
