INDIVIDUALS.
For the last century, Family Service has been the best or only hope for thousands of metro area families for preventing crisis, staying together and learning how to manage change. By quietly helping to maintain and restore family life, Family Service remains one of the best-kept secrets for those not directly benefiting from its services. Yet, in recent years, Family Service has provided an average of more than 60,000 hours of service annually to nearly 16,500 individuals, helping all kinds of families in all corners of our community.
Counseling:
Our programs provide individual, couple, family & group counseling in numerous areas including:
addictions
trauma
stress
anxiety
abuse
parenting
depression
domestic violence
divorce adjustment
Other counseling programs offered include the following:
Rivarde Detention Center:
Provides counseling and assessment for juveniles.
Diversion Program:
Provides individual or group psycho-education for clients referred by the courts to teach new decision making skills.
Active Parenting:
For all parents with children up to the age of 18. An educational group that helps with issues of parenting concerns. (East Jefferson Office )
Custody Evaluation:
Helps parents and the courts make custody decisions for children
The Hate Crimes Project:
Hate crimes are horrendous acts. they are threats, violence and/or intimidation against someone because of their perceived race, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity or disability.
VOCA:
Through the Victims of Crime Act, Family Service of Greater New Orleans provides individual and goup therapy services to children, adolescents and adults who are survivors of physical and sexual abuse, domestic violence and children who have witnessed domestic violence.
Domestic Violence Program:
Women for Non-Violence is a court ordered 26-session psycho-educational program that confronts the core issues involved in domestic violence.

CART:
Child-Adolescent Response Team provides assistance for children and parents experiencing a crisis.
Family Preservation:
Family Preservation is a program that provides intensive in-home counseling to families at risk. It is designed to prevent dissolution of the system and to provide viable alternatives to strengthen families.
InCourage:
A new counseling program based on the InCourage Model of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is being made available through Family Service to people in New Orleans who experienced the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Gustav. This program is provided in collaboration with the Baton Rouge Area Foundation and the counseling in provided fee.
Spirit of Hope Oil Spill Disaster Mental Health Program:
The Spirit of Hope progam used funds from BP to offer free mental health screenings, services and referrals to children and adults with mental health issues related to the Oil Spill disaster.
