February 11, 2015 FGRA Members, Contestants, and Fans: It is with sadness but also resolve that FGRA, Inc. announces that it will be cancelling the planned 2015 Sunshine Stampede scheduled for Davie Florida, April 10-12, 2015. In our efforts to raise the necessary sponsorship dollars to host our event, it has become apparent that we have several factors making it nearly impossible to reach our goals: stiff competition for our weekend from one minor event and one major CW event, stagnate and sluggish sponsorship participation and declining community interest. Additionally we could not in good conscience have people pay $190-$270/night for a room (Spring Break plus the addition of the largest CW event in Florida means rooms are at a premium) nor bankrupt the association with a $30K plus loss. To those who have already planned on attending, we apologize. We pride ourselves on hosting the best event we can, in the sunshine, close to the beach, at a time when nearly everyone is seeking refuge from frost! Our resolve is this: FGRA, Inc. needs to rebuild it's membership to levels we had in 2006-2009. We have added the great State of Georgia to our territory and the excitement level surrounding this is palatable. We are a charitable organization that has been known to host a fantastic rodeo. We are not a fantastic rodeo that drags a charitable organization. We serve our members who expect and trust that we maintain the highest standards of accountability and good judgment in regards to the finances and mission statement of the Association. What you can expect to see from us in the near term is an increased focus on our membership, a full review of how to achieve our outreach programs without out spending our ability to raise funds and an assortment of event idea's, in other locations throughout our territory, that achieve our goals of supporting territory wide charities. Our decision is one of economics. I want to assure the BOD and other Associations that this action is in no way attached to nor does it affect our focus on Convention 2015 in Saint Petersburg, Florida. We are full steam ahead in planning that event, the finances are in order and there is no indication of any need to deviate from the plan put forth when we applied for the ability to host. Thank you all for your understanding and support. FGRA, Inc. Board of Directors
