Financial Literacy Educational Program (FLEP) is a program offered by Social Services for the Arab Community (SSFAC) in collaboration with Fifth Third Bank. This program will strengthen the financial knowledge of the Arab immigrants & refugees participating in this program. Assisting Arab immigrants and refugees to become financially literate will promote stable neighborhoods and contribute to the economic vitality of the entire Greater Toledo community. “There is greater attention to partnerships between financial institutions and community-based organizations, particularly refugee and immigrant-led organizations." Social Services for the Arab Community (SSFAC) is collaborating with Fifth Third Bank in offering bi-monthly group seminars, with translation provided through an SSFAC interpreter. The bi-monthly seminars curriculum used is called “Empower U”. “Empower U® which is a Fifth Third Bank L.I.F.E. (Lives Improved through Financial Empowerment®) program for adults that is delivered in two ways: directly to 53 Bank’s business clients as an offering for their employees and through community outreach in partnership with local non-profit and community development organizations, taught by experienced Fifth Third professionals. Each Empower U class is 30 minutes and has a specific topic covering several course areas.”
