Teenager airlifted to hospital after fall from horse in North Hykeham A teenage girl was airlifted to hospital after being thrown from a horse in North Hykeham. The 15-year old suffered neck injuries in the fall on the afternoon of Saturday 8 March. A crew from East Midlands Ambulance Service were first on the scene to treat her. Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) were also called out to transfer her to the nearest major trauma centre. DLRAA left their base at East Midlands Airport at approximately 1:08pm and landed in a field near to the incident 17 minutes later. On arrival, the crew from DLRAA assisted EMAS in providing the patient with much needed pain relief. She was then immobilised before being flown to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham for further treatment. The crew landed at the hospital at approximately 2:00pm. The teenagers injuries were not life threatening.
