Jersey City is the second most populous city in the U.S. state of New Jersey after Newark. It is the seat of Hudson County as well as the county's largest city. Financial and service industries as well as direct rapid transit access to Manhattan in New York City have played a prominent role in the redevelopment of the Jersey City waterfront and the creation of one of the nation's largest downtown central business districts.
