Lord Richard-Fouad MacLeod is an international artist whose recent family history may be traced back to Lebanon and Turkey. He is a modest man, who much prefers the simple address of Richard over the formal title which he is afforded. As a child, he studied Arabic Calligraphy in Saudi Arabia under the auspices of his father, himself an accomplished artist and calligrapher who fervently encouraged his son's growing interests. Richard CV reflect his passion about art with a broad spectrum of art forms. At the age of 42, he is an architect, an international award winner photographer, an award winner filmmaker, a poet, a writer and of course an Arabic calligraphy artists. His paintings have been exhibited in the UK, USA, Turkey, Egypt and Dubai. His paintings are in more countries around the world owned by many including David Cameron and Boris Johnson. Richard"s art is always about the beauty of imperfection. In other words its about the beauty of humanity. Being him self a member of mixed race and faith, he is very keen on exploring harmony, coexistence and diversity. And his unique experience of wealth, poverty, success, failure, asylum seeking, diaspora and many other experiences gives him a unique insight and a wealth of emotions to dip his brushes in. His islamic / Arabic art been exhibited in numerous churches around the UK including the famous Waterloo Church, St John. Richard did also Masters in Arabic Calligraphy, relating specifically to its design and to its influence on the Islamic-British identity. This topic has proven itself to be deeply intriguing, as well as far more than that: it is thoroughly relevant, as it draws profound parallels across the many varied fields of artistic endeavour and reveals, with breathtaking clarity, the broad and powerful influences which the world of artistic expression exercises over everyday life. The outcome of this study is the first British-Arabic calligraphy script in history which he called QEII ( Queen Elizabeth II). The script proved to be popular in the West as well as the East.
