We are both really passionate about helping women have the kind of birth that they deserve. We believe that this is your experience, and will be there to support you, and your partner. We offer free consultation services to meet and discuss if we are the doulas you are looking for. Women should feel empowered and supported during pregnancy, labour, and post-partum. As professional labour doulas we provide companionship and comfort to the labouring mother to ensure the best birth using our knowledge and experience of labour and birth. Our services are available to all mothers to include those planning a vaginal, cesarean, or VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) delivery whether in your home or the hospital, medicated or natural. Our sole focus is on the mother’s needs. SERVICES: If you are interested in hiring us as your doulas please contact us through our website, email, or telephone number. We can schedule a free consultation with you and your partner to become acquainted, discuss your due date and birth plans, our availability, payment options, and answer any questions that you may have. If you choose us as your doula team we will meet again so we may become familiar with your plans for birth and postpartum and sign our contract. We will accept your deposit at this time, as we will then place you on our schedule. Throughout your pregnancy and immediately postpartum we are available by email and phone to help answer questions, connect you to resources, and provide referrals as necessary. During our visit we’ll discuss comfort measures in labour, your childbirth preparation (books you’ve read or classes you’ve taken) and continue to answer any questions or concerns you may have. If you would like us to join you for a prenatal visit with your care provider then please let us know. You will also have access to our lending library of books to assist you in preparing and exploring your options. The remainder of your payment will be due two weeks before your estimated due date, when we go on call for you. We work as a shared doula practice in the event that your “on call” doula is unable to attend your birth you will always have a back-up so that you are assured one of us will be there for your labour and birth. We do not usually attend births as a team unless requested. During our visit we will also explain when to contact us, and your on call doula will join you as soon as active labour is established. We provide emotional and physical comfort measures, along with support and breastfeeding assistance immediately after birth. We will encourage your partner to participate as actively as possible in providing this care to you! While we do not speak with the medical staff for you, we assist you in exploring your options, making informed decisions, remembering your questions, and encouraging you to communicate with your care provider. If a surgical birth becomes necessary then depending on circumstances your on call doula may be able to accompany you into the OR to provide continued support. After the birth your doula will remain with you one to two hours, until you are settled and ready for some quiet family time. Within a few days of your birth we will be checking in with you by phone to help answer any questions you may have. If you are having any challenges with breastfeeding then we are happy to come assist and provide further resources for community support, such as certified lactation consultants. Within two weeks of the birth we will come visit you to review the birth. At that time we would be grateful to receive any feedback you would like to provide regarding our services, as this helps us to better serve others. When possible we will include a limited number of birth photos if you desire. We are doulas first, but when possible we can capture some of those special moments as you labour. Once your new baby arrives we will photograph the newborn exam, the first cuddles and nursing session, and a picture of the new family. If you are interested in having your entire labour and birth documented I can refer you to local birth photographers who can focus exclusively on pictures while we support you as a doula. Because we take a limited number of clients and book several months in advance please contact us to discuss availability around your due date. We believe that every mother who wants a doula should have one, and if we are already scheduled then we are happy to refer you to other doulas in the area. We also do not want cost to prevent you from receiving the care you need! We would love to work with you to create a payment arrangement to fit your budget.
