Description

The Fine arts Society of India at UTA is an organization, aimed at promoting the Indian culture and nurturing the talents of the student community. FSI is an equal opportunity provider and helps the students at UTA to bring out their unique talents through various cultural events. FSI helps in the organization and integration of the Indian Sub-continent within the UTA cultural community, promoting cultural understanding between the South Asian and American communities, respectively. It maximizes the potential of the organization through its vast membership, to increase the awareness of Indians on campus and in the community, to preserve the rich cultural heritage of India, and to unite Indians and people of other races by celebrating and learning from diversity. Since its foundation, FSI is successfully conducting various activities which involves, majorly, the Indian student community as well as other International students. This includes a very high spirited participation in the International Week of the University, in Spring mid-semester. With the onset of Summer and beginning of Spring, starts the flow of incoming International students. FSI is the lone organization in the campus to conduct airport pick-up and provide temporary accommodation for a record number of students every year. The airport pickups are followed by a grand welcome party for the new students. While we talk about different activities of FSI, the name UTSAV bears a crucial importance. UTSAV is the official annual event of FSI. It’s a platform for artist on campus to showcase their talent in varied genres to a highly appreciating crowd. Apart from this, there are lots of events where FSI is actively involved. To name a few are Ganeshotsav(Ganpati Festival), Garba(Navratri), Janmashtami(Lord Krishna Jayanti) and Indian Independence Day. As always, hard work pays off. Team FSI has been felicitated with many organizational awards for its high team spirit and zealous efforts. We are deeply honored to receive the outstanding student organization award in the international category (2003-04, 2004-05, 2010-11, 2012-13) from the student governance at UTA. Recently, FSI was granted the honor of representation in the Round Table meeting with the Hon. President, UT Arlington. Besides these, we receive appreciation in form of words, letters, donations and overall love and support from the student community. FSI gives out scholarships of its own on a yearly basis. The scholarship is given out on grounds of academic excellence and involvement in the FSI activities. The scholarships are granted to students, who receive a nominal monetary reward and concession in tuition fee (as applied to instate students).
