at Flinders University Sports and Fitness Centre, Sturt rd Bedford Park (near carpark 6), Adelaide Australia
This is an all womens class for beginners to advanced. Work to your own level of fitness and ability.
Flinders University Muay Thai Club has started an all womens class for beginners to advanced to learn the art of muay Thai! Sometimes joining a club full of men can be intimidating so this class is a great place to start learning before you join the main classes if you want. The class is run by me (Laura Bowman) and I have been training with the club for nearly 6 years. I have had 12 fights and competed in the World Games in Russia last year. I strongly encourage all women to have a go at training and see what they are made of. It is a fun sport to do and keeps you fit and strong whilst teaching you a skill at the same time. Muay Thai has changed my life for the better. You do not have to fight, and it is not a violent class. All fitness levels are welcome, in fact quite a few students have started from scratch and have enjoyed it because you work to your own level.

I will leave it up to the majority to decide. Sorry about this guys, but there is nowhere else we can go. Please tag as many girls that may attend so they know about it.

Netball is a winter sport. They train outside in the cold and play games in the rain. If youre thinking about not coming tonight because we're outside, well... no disrespect to netballers but if they can do it then we should be able to!

I feel inspired to say something, because I always see lots of videos and photos of pretty girls in their Lorna Jayne clothes, not sweating doing their workouts in the fancy gyms. I compare it to the way I train and how nobody sees me do it. I don't post a lot of videos or photos of myself or my class training because I cant afford a photographer and Im too busy actually training to stop and take photos all the time! Now, because we train in a humble space with no fancy equipment people see this as a disadvantage and choose to train somewhere else, which is their choice. But what, you might ask yourself, is more important? The fancy gym with the fancy set up where you can look good training there? Or the gym with that has the most experienced instructor who will get you the results you want and share all their knowledge with. Im proud to say that mine is the gym that some people dont want to train in because its "too tough", I like to be the trainer who takes you to your limit so that you can find out where it is (maybe sometimes cross the line). It lets me know who has the guts to handle it and who doesnt. Lately our numbers have been down and it makes me think about how I teach and maybe I should ease up a bit. But Muay Thai is a hard Martial Art, it is beautiful and is worth learning properly. There are no miracle short cuts, it takes time but it is worth it. So come to training!! Thats all I have to say about that. Phew! PS love to my few bad ass committed students, you rock!
Training tonight at 6 ladies, hope to see you all tonight. Newbies always welcome, meet at the entrance before 6.
Sunday morning sparring if anyone wants to come and give it a go. Send me a private message on the page if.you do and I'll give you the address. It's just light sparring so you can learn.
Oh and dont forget about the run at 5.30, meet in carpark 6. Come and try if you want, ill run with you!
