Description

CALISTHENICS is a competitive team sport in which girls are trained in physical culture including exercise, apparatus technique, aesthetic movement, modern dance, national folk dancing, marching and singing. All are set to music, are choreographed with artistry and designed to develop strength, grace and poise in the student. CALISTHENICS is unique to Australia and we can be justly proud of this fascinating hybrid which combines the finest points of spod and ad. As a sport it encourages phsyical development and coordination, self discipline and team spirit. As an art it develops an appreplation of music and rhythm, the beauty of line and composition and excitement of stage presentation. Originating in Victoria, CALISTHENICS has spread to all states of Australia and currently has in excess of thirty thousand girls and women actively involved in both recreational and competitive classes. CALISTHENICS caters for all age groups and the classes within the Geelong region comprise of teams that compete at different grading levels. New girls are welcome at all clubs. All CALISTHENICS clubs must be members of Calisthenics Victoria Inc. All coaches must be registered members of the Victorian Calisthenics Teachers Association
