........ In case you were wondering on a Monday afternoon!! March Birthstone - Aquamarine Imagine a serene ocean, glistening cool blue with a subtle hint of green…that is the colour of this gorgeous gemstone. It is no surprise that Aquamarine's name literally means seawater in the ancient language of Latin. The ancients believed that by soaking an Aquamarine in their drinking water would provide great medicinal powers. Aquamarine was also thought to soothe its wearer with a calming effect, similar to that of a placid sea. A variety of the mineral, beryl, Aquamarine's stunning blue-green hue is unique. Emerald is another member of the Beryl family... So if Beryl was the family name like 'Armitage' then Aquamarine would be Bella and Emerald would be Tom as siblings... Hardness - 7.5

Sapphire is the term for all colours of the mineral corundum. Sapphire can range nearly all colours of the spectrum with the exception of red corundum, which is known as Ruby. So... If a pink Sapphire is too red then it is a Ruby.
