We support the over 60s to afford a rescue pet companion - tackling loneliness for the individual and homelessness for the animal...
'Give a Dog a Bone... and an animal a home' is a registered charity, founded in November 2013. Its aim is to tackle the rising number of animals in shelter, and loneliness in our aging years, by enabling the two to come together. We want to remove financial barriers to the over 60s having a rescue pet companion - thus providing company for the person, and a home for the animal! Where money is a genuine barrier, the charity can pay the rehoming fee and/or continue to support with the ongoing monthly cost of pet food and/or insurance! We also support animal rescue operations to find homes for their animals. This may, or may not, be with the 60+ age group, however, financial support is ONLY available to those over 60. Since we started in November 2013 we: - have found homes for numerous cats and dogs - are supporting Seniors each month with the cost of their pet food and insurance - have provided foster homes for animals without a permanent home - have arranged volunteer dog walking for older people recovering from operations - have found homes for animals whose older companions were too ill to look after them. To date, we have helped over 200 animals to find a brighter future.
