To all of our chivalrous members, it is TIME FOR TEA. :D Brush up your manners and curl your pinkies~ We will be meeting for an exotic tea-drinking session at Tchai-Ovna on Otago Lane this Thursday at 4:30pm for all of those who wish to sample the eastern delights of a Russian Caravan or a Japanese Sencha :3 Come with any curious facts you have about tea (and it's history, of course) ;) Your tea-clipping board, Mariah, Lizzy, Jenna & Rhys xxxx
Hi guys! We are hoping to re-affiliate the society with the SRC by next week. To do this, we need a list of our members and their matriculation numbers :) If you could either pm the society, Lizzy or Jenna with your matriculation numbers, that would be fantastic :D Have a fantasmical summer all of you, and hope to see you all in September! xxx
Many apologies to all you wonderful minions for the lack of events in the last couple of weeks! Your valiant board has been mired in the swamp of damnation bravely tackling beasts known by the hideous names of Essays, Exams and Deadlines. To celebrate our victory against said beasts and patch up our wounds we shall enjoy a soothing pint (or two...or more). If you care to join us to de-stress from previous deadlines or mentally prepare for new ones just come down to the Grosvenor Cafe on Ashton Lane on thursday around 19:00 and we will have a merry gathering and share our tales of horror and delights. :) Muchos lovos :3 Your battle-hardened and weary board Mariah, Lizzy, Jenna and Rhys xxx
Greetings and salutations! Thanks to all of you who showed up for the pub quiz last week, we had a great time and hope you did too :D We were very impressed that you managed to get such good scores since we did aim to make the quiz hellishly difficult >:3 This week we will be going to see 12 Years a Slave, the film based on the memoirs of Solomon Northup. We're planning to see the 20:30 show on Thursday at Cineworld on Renfrew St. We meet at Hillhead underground at 19:45 for those who wish to go together and if you can't make it until later then meet us in the foyer before the film starts :3 A word of warning, bring a decent amount of hankies and try not to be to aghast at seeing Magneto's more terrible sides :P Your sentimental saps of a board Mariah, Lizzy, Jenna, Rhys xoxo
GREETINGS, HISTORIANS! THE TIME IS NEAR~ Just a quick reminder that our pub quiz and raffle is taking place tonight at 7:30pm in Dram on Woodlands Road. Please come along (and bring your friends too!) :D See you soon! :) Mariah, Lizzy, Jenna, Rhys xxx
IT IS TIME. On Thursday your destiny will be decided at the second History Society Pub Quiz of the year :D We will be gathering at Dram (236-242 Woodlands Road) at 7:30pm to put you through your historical paces and a chance to win some awesome (and alcoholically themed) prizes >:D We will also be holding a raffle in order to fund a fantasmical guest-lecture from Bob Woosnam-Savage, (Curator of Edged Weapons at the Royal Armouries, Leeds and who has been involved in the examination of the remains of Richard III) later on in the year. SO PLEASE BRING YOUR PENNIES. :D We hope to see a whole army of you chivalrous noblemen (and women) on Thursday night! Mariah, Lizzy, Jenna & Rhys xxx
HAPPY NEW YEAR, FELLOW HISTORIANS! :D We hope you have all had an enjoyable and relaxing Christmas break before delving deep into studying THE BEST SUBJECT EVER once more ;) We will be kicking our social activities off next week with our second pub quiz of the year which we will provide details for very soon. We hope to see many of you wonderful people there :D Also, if anyone is interested, there is an American history seminar taking place tomorrow (Wednesday), entitled ‘The rise of horse racing and the endorsement of slavery in Kentucky, 1780-1830’ which begins at 5.15pm, in room 208 of 2 University Gardens. Looking forward to seeing many of you brave and noble warriors soon! :D Mariah, Lizzy, Jenna, Rhys xxx

Greetings all, So tonight, the we're doing our Christmassy night at the QM, in association with the Debating and Politics societies. Hoping to see you all there, we'll be celebrating the season of goodwill and charity by (theoretically) throwing figures such as Boudicca or Churchill out of Hot Air Balloons - Or NOT! Come along, and debate for who you want saved, and who should take the plunge. We'll be meeting everyone at 7pm at the QM, if you'd like to go in with some fellow historians, your board members will be waiting at the Union entrance at about 5 to. Other than that, we'll see you inside! It'll be a lovely way to say goodbye to everyone before exam stress swamps us all, and everyone attending the event will have free entry to Snap, Crackle and Pop should they wish it. See you tonight! Your awesome board members (special Christmas snowflakes one and all) Mariah, Lizzy, Jenna and Rhys xx

We will be doing just the one session this semester so please don't hesitate to attend, even if you only have minor questions or concerns. :) Hope to see you tomorrow :D Mariah, Lizzy, Jenna and Rhys xxx
