Above this welcoming, traditional bar are seven bedrooms - all with TV and en suite bathroom - which can be booked at a great rate. Downstairs, you can soak in the atmosphere created by the wood-panelled bar with its brass rail, the hexagonal stained glass on the ceiling, the church-pew seating - not to mention some of the classiest toilets in town. The staff book live bands - typically rock and jazz - up to a year in advance for Friday and Saturday nights. The beer garden is an ideal place for a party for up to 40 people - ask for details.
