For over 15 years, Globe has been a favorite neighborhood joint in the heart of the Financial District. The brick walls, original to the blacksmith shop that occupied the space in the 19th century, provide a backdrop for an intimate space with a small open kitchen and wood-fired oven that guarantees perfect thin-crust pizza. Globe’s melting pot is a hearty stew of American, Italian, and California cuisines: A rotisserie leg of lamb is served with globe artichokes while the salmon comes on house-made “boccacino” pasta. Desserts take local fruits to inspired levels; a Bartlett pear tart is glazed with honey, and fresh figs are roasted for ice cream. Both are worth lingering over.
