Greetings Everyone! Just wanted to to do a quick PUPdate! Saturday night was the first night I left the shelter able to breathe and with a true sense of progress and movement towards the light at the end of the tunnel. This was almost solely due to the hard, hard work of Jae and Tammy on Friday afternoon. While Lisa kept the show running, Jae and Tammy organized, rearranged, and cleaned to the extent, the shelter was almost unrecognizable upon return. The organizing continued on Saturday with Lisa, Tammy, and Angel and I can not stress enough how much this has helped. We can now move beyond the clutter and survival and try and start implementing so many of the programs and improvements we want to do. Auritha has been popping in all week, always bearing food, which is a huge help. She also gave two of our ringworm kitties special baths on Saturday. Rosanne cleaned cats on Saturday and Sunday. The truly important part of this, is not that she cleaned cats, but that while she is doing it, she is spending quality time with each cat as she goes. She observes, socializes, and interacts with our cats on a truly intimate one-on-one level that is so desperately needed in a shelter environment. Martha, Anne, Betty, Jae, and Angel provide foster homes not only to those needing a safe place to land but to our sick or those needing a little extra in some way. When animal control comes knock, knock knocking at the door with the pressure to make more room, fostering is a huge resource. Martha, Anne, Betty, Jae, and Angel also do innumerable behind the scenes tasks to keep us all moving forward. Angel is our "roving reporter," our girl in the field. She provides tremendous help at the Shelter, especially this Saturday and Sunday, but she excels at reaching the community. My Mom provides the home-cooked food when the thought of another McDonalds hamburger is nauseating. Most importantly, she explains to our pack at home why I am away for so many long hours and keeps our motley crew organized. Angela is always, always there for support but has also reached out to her resources to provide innumerable services to us. I truly did not expect the number of adoptions we have had and the only reason we are able send out fully vetted animals is through the help of Good Shepherd Animal Clinic. We have sent two loads for vetting but Cindy also takes all my texts asking for advice. Somehow, some way, the stars aligned one day and sent us Tammy and Ya'el. These two women have provided so much in the last two weeks, I have to say, I don't know if we could have done it, or at least done it as well as we have, without their help. Truly, there are not enough thank you's for the contributions they have made. Kim and Lisa. No words. Simply no words. We knew we would be working our butts off,and we are, but to keep doing it day after day when the battle is all uphill is where the challenge comes. That is fueled by the passion we each have for improving the quality of life for these animals. My sisters, all praise to you both Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. T Sent From Tina's iPhone
