Fireworks! Fireworks can be fun for humans and with Canada Day coming plus all the summer weekends, they are inevitable. Dogs don’t always hold the same enthusiasm however. Here are some tips for helping your dog cope with Fireworks Season. 1. Make sure your dog is wearing Identification or has a microchip in case they run away. 2. Keep your dog indoors during the fireworks, as far away as possible from the noise. 3. Placing a thick blanket over their kennel can help muffle the sounds. Make sure their kennel is in an area where they will not over heat though. 4. Make sure your dog is tired by the time nighttime comes and the fireworks begin. Lots of exercise may need to be done during the day. 5. Give your dog something yummy to chew on in their kennel such as a kong filled with goodies. If there is a fear there are prevention measures you can do. It is important to speak with your Veterinarian and Behavioural Consult to work towards desensitization the fireworks sounds. firstname.lastname@example.org (204)990-4423 www.grassrootscanine.com
INTRODUCING BABY & DOG: Every family should grow up with a dog! Dogs teach kids empathy, responsibility, help build their immune system and so much more! However how you teach dog and baby to be raised together is just as important. Through Woofs n Wags & Grassroots Canine we have created a seminar designed for parents to teach them how to get baby and dog off to a good start. Shalin Hustad RNBN IBCLC CFCN is the presenter. As a nurse and a dog trainer she brings an interesting perspective to the topic. Seminar is on JANUARY 25, 2015 from 6-8pm. $25.00/person or $40.00/couple. Contact Woofs N Wags today to sign up! At Grassroots Canine, we are excited to announce that we are up and running! Our training program is designed to get you out and enjoying life again with your dog. We want dogs to be able to be "dogs" while being respectful to the world they live in. We are starting to offer behavioural consults as of August 1/14. Send us an email or give us a call. Tell us the areas of concerns you are having. We will send you a questionnaire to get a better holistic feel for the problem at hand. Once completed and returned back to us we give you options, with different price ranges to help you enjoy your dog again. Contact us today!
