General Info
Great Bay NWR is open from dawn to dusk, seven days per week, year round (with the exception of occasional closures due to inclement weather).
The rich and varied habitats of the refuge provide wildlife and visitors alike with a place to rest and recharge. Refuge visitors may enjoy opportunities to view and/or photograph wildlife, particularly while walking one or both of the trails provided. A two day, lottery-selection deer hunt is conducted every fall.
Please observe the following while visiting Great Bay NWR:
-Pets are NOT allowed on the refuge (including within motor vehicles);
-Trails and boardwalks are open to foot travel only;
-Motor vehicles should be parked only in designated areas;
-Bicycles and motor vehicles are limited to the paved entrance road and parking lot;
-Collecting, disturbing, or destroying plants, animals, or parts thereof, is prohibited unless specifically authorized under a special use permit;
-To reduce disturbance to wildlife and for visitor safety, public use is restricted to designated areas; and
-Be aware of and comply with all AREA CLOSED signs.
