Our tour of the Webster Groves Public Library tonight with Tom Cooper talking about their renovation was fun and interesting! Thanks for all who attended, and if you enjoyed the event, next time bring a friend!
We had a great time tonight at the tour of the Washington University Film & Media Archive! Thanks to Nadia and the GSLLC board for making it happen, and thanks for everyone who attended! If you weren't able to make it to this event, we hope you'll be able to come to another one in the near future.
Board news: Treasurer Barb Knotts has resigned. Barb served the GSLLC faithfully in that capacity and we are sorry to see her go! Thanks to Barb for a job well done. We wish her all the best and hope to see her at future Library tours. Jill Vidal, a volunteer at the Missouri History Museum library and recent Mizzou grad, has joined GSLLC and has volunteered as our new treasurer. Jill is an East Coast transplant, with a bachelor's degree in Media Production, and has been treasurer of the MRDA (the Men's Roller Derby Association) for the past 5 years (and roller derby player for the past 9). She is all done with her degree--just waiting for the diploma to come so it all feels real. Jill says she is excited to get her very first library job (and hope it will be soon!) and hopes to meet you all in the near future! Our next event is coming up in October. More information forthcoming! Be sure to thank Barb for a job well done, and welcome Jill to the club!
The Greater St. Louis Library Club Board is pleased to welcome Sarah Reando in the role of Vice President. Ms. Reando is a graduate of Missouri's library science program and works as a reference librarian at Webster University. We look forward to working with her and introducing her to the Club at our fall event.
The Club's event on Saturday, our visit to the Missouri Civil War Museum, was great. My favorite displays were those on the War and photography and Women and the War. Artifacts and accompanying info wove unforgettable stories of the times.
