The Greater Saint Louis Training Club is a non-profit organization that advocates and delivers innovative force-free canine training, sponsors events, and provides education for dog enthusiasts to advance the human-canine bond. Whether you are an obedience trial competitor or a first-time pet owner, there is a place in our club for you!

General Info

Our history begins before World War II. The Greater Saint Louis Training Club was founded in 1940, making it the oldest obedience training club in the Saint Louis area. The GSLTC has proudly offered over 60 years of obedience training and over 50 years of obedience trials. We are also the only AKC-member obedience club in the St. Louis area. We pride ourselves on being noncommercial, nonprofit, and community centered. Our membership includes pet owners, as well as competitors active in every branch of dog sports. We offer activities such as our annual obedience trial, competition and canine behavior seminars, public lectures and community service programs. One feature that makes us unique is our Assistant Trainers Course. Those interested in becoming volunteer trainers for the club may apply to this six-month course which teaches the fundamentals of dog training and includes apprenticeship with experienced trainers and assistant work. Members also enjoy social events, a quarterly newsletter, class discounts, and the opportunity to connect with people who love working and playing with their dogs.
