The Green Mountain Railroad gives Vermont tourists and local families the unique opportunity to see Vermont by Train.
The Green Mountain Railroad (GMRC) was purched by the Vermont Rail System in 1997. The GMRC provides 52 miles of mountainous railroad connecting Bellows Falls and Rutland. Before the GMRC took over, it was part of Steamtown USA. This historic line has run passenger trains since 1965. Today, our passenger services run from Chester VT to Ludlow or Rockingham on the GMRC, during the Fall Foliage season starting up in September. We offer a Dinner train during that time on Friday nights only. In addition to the Fall Foliage Train Rides, the Green Mountain Passenger Services also depart from Burlington VT, on the Vermont Railway, starting in the Spring for special excursions. The Green Mountain Railroad also offers Charter Services for Business Events, Charitable Events, Weddings and more. For more information about our train rides, charter services or the history of the Green Mountain Railroad, please visit our website or call us today!
