What a brilliant first week at Green Shoots. Dear Parents and Carers from Green Shoots Pre-School It would be great if you would like to join our 'closed group' for Green Shoots Pre-School. It will only be accessible to parents, carers and staff. It was really nice to meet everyone who came to our open day. The children were very good at joining in with the actions to our 'three bears and their honey' story and all made themselves at home in our lovely church hall. The Green Shoots staff team is raring to go, we are very excited to be on this new adventure and are looking forward to bringing all our skills to the table when it comes to offering children a high quality, safe, fun and inclusive setting.

What a fantastic start to the new pre-school year. The children have settled well into the routine and the WOW sheets from home are pilling in! We have already collected many fruits from the allotment and enjoyed them for our puddings, watched the Tour of Britain waving our flags, spent time exploring outdoors whilst learning about road safety, and lots and lots of creative play at the pre-school hall. Thank you to all the children, families and staff team
A big thank you to one of our first ever families for a wonderful review. "My 3 year old boy started at Green Shoots this week and has loved every minute. He has come home covered in raspberry stains, with stories of picking them himself in the pre schools allotment (which they walk to daily) and also feeding any leftovers to the chickens. It is a small setting ran by Judy and her team of 3 key workers and 1 chef; who makes all the food fresh, onsite and with a passion to include the kids in food fun. Judy has the winning mix of being on the ball with all things administrative and regulatory as well as an awesome and inspiring friend to all the children. She brings stories to life with a cast of puppets and cuddlies, which in her hands animate with ease, making me and the children adore her. She has set my mind at rest and I am delighted to have discovered Green Shoots as a local pre school setting that has children at the centre of their work. My boy has a male key worker who has been just perfect and likes to play constantly and answers every single one of my boys questions with thoughtfulness and genuine enthusiasm. All the staff bring lots of experience to the settling but most importantly to me, a sense of fun. I hope my boy continues to come home each day covered in the evidence of a fun filled day. "I love Green Shoots" to quote my little boy when asked if he had anything to add to this review. Me too. Lyndsey
Thank you to everyone who came to our open day and to the Green Shoots staff team for working so well together. It was lovely to see a busy hall and children happily exploring the different activities :) Only three weeks until we open! We are getting everything ready; healthy balanced menus for hot lunches and snack; resources for den building on the allotment; improvements to our lovely outdoor play area; and staff induction and training ready for September :)
GS Caterpillar Update... The caterpillars spent the week at preschool, the children made amazing observation pictures and played life cycle sequencing games - the caterpillars gobbled up the rest of the food and by Friday (day 11) they had begun to crawl, nibble and pull at the paper under the lid. I made the decision not to abandon the caterpillars at preschool and took them home with me on Friday! That evening 1 caterpillar had hooked itself and hung upside down (transformation starting in the head area). (day 12) Saturday morning 4/5 caterpillars were now in the same position as the first (by the early evening all 5 are hanging out!) and to my amazement one perfect chrysalis was already fully formed (with a little clump of shedded skin next to it!) They should turn into butterflies just before the end of term!!!! Hope you can see the detail in the pics! Can't wait to make a picture book with the children and show them the chrysalises
