www.habitatkc.org Building decent, affordable housing in partnership with low-income Kansas City families since 1979 www.habitatkc.org Habitat KC was founded in 1979 by John & Mary Pritchard as the 7th affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Habitat KC has been building for more than 30 years in the urban core of Kansas City, raising up more than 220 new houses and renovated many more to house hundreds of families. In 2000 Habitat KC opened its first ReStore facility, and then opened a second retail location in 2011. Habitat ReStore is an environmental and fundraising arm of this affiliate that sells donated building materials at 50-75% of retail cost to the general public. The ReStore not only generates revenue to help build more houses, but it also keeps thousands of tons of materials out of landfills.
