Hagley Dance Company is a full-time contemporary dance course attached to Hagley Community College in Christchurch.
Hagley Dance Company is a full-time dance course taught by leading New Zealand choreographers and dance professionals aimed at students wishing to take their dance training to the next level and prepare for tertiary study. Hagley Dance Company has graduated over 130 students since its creation in 1999, with many of these students moving on to professional dance degrees at tertiary institutions such as the University of Auckland and UNITEC and professional dance companies throughout Australasia including Black Grace. The Hagley Dance Company course is a year long full-time programme for students over 17 years of age. The course focuses on Technique, Choreography and Performance and includes training in contemporary dance, ballet, jazz, yoga, anatomy, nutrition, dance history, and pilates. Students will gain exposure through nationally reviewed performances, a School's Tour, and performances at some of Christchurch's arts festivals, such as the Body Festival. In addition to the full time company, Hagley Community College offers Dance at all NCEA levels for students wishing to achieve national standards in Dance.

Come to the Hagley Dance Soiree! Wednesday August 5th & Thursday August 6th. The showcase will include student work from the year so far and celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the Hagley Dance Company. All NCEA dance students will be performing plus the Dance Company and Theatre Company. Time: 7pm start Venue: The Open Stage, Hagley College Entry is by donation

Congratulations to both Holly Thompson and Tayla Coulbeck who have both been awarded the Sheryl Robinson Memorial Scholarship for 2014. Holly and Tayla will use the money towards their move to Auckland to study at Unitec and the University of Auckland. We are proud of both of these girls.
