My name is Alison Harper and I am a Clinical Psychologist based in Edinburgh. I offer individual assessment, therapy and expert witness reports.

Description

I am a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the regulatory body for Clinical Psychologsts. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology in 1992. Following this, I completed a PhD with the Medical Research Council and, having worked for the World Health Organisation for two years, undertook my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Edinburgh, qualifying in 2000. I worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings within the NHS and have worked independently for the past eight years. Provision of psychological therapy takes up approximately 80% of my working time. Referrals come from GPs, Psychiatrists, Health Insurers and Lawyers and therapy includes treatment of multiple conditions, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, complex grief responses, somatisation disorders and traumatic brain injury. I am fully trained in several evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
